Welcome three new Spring colors and also a color which had an early surprise release last month!
First is Clementine, the color that had an unexpected early release
Spring is all about bold, bright, poppy colors mixed with soft and acidic yellows and greens. Clementine hosts these shades in a pattern that lends almost a hand-drawn appearance. Part ikat, part floral, Clementine features pink, salmon, orange and yellow for a juicy, vibrant visual. It’s cheerful, feminine and brimming with those blazing shades we love for spring.
Next is Blue Bayou, maybe not technically, but I believe it was named after one of my favorite restaurants at Disneyland.
The hand-rendered floral pattern offers simple geometric elements like a playful zigzag interior. True blues play against fresh white and inky black for a print with a global appeal.
Another which reminds me of the Happiest Place on Earth is Julep Tulip, of course making me crave a cool drink from the Mint Julep Bar in New Orleans Square (where the Blue Bayou is also located... hmm). This one is definitely getting added to my collection ASAP!
This softly structured design, boasting fresh violet, bright magenta and grass green, is inspired by the lavish interior textiles our print designers love to collect. Inside, a stylized garden lattice of woven tonal stripes keeps us grounded. The finished pattern has a hand-panted, almost watercolor appearance that has us thinking of green vines and playful tulips.
And finally we have Citron, my least favorite of this particular release of colors, but I do love a good mushroom-like gray and lime green just like the next girl.
We transformed this hand-rendered floral pattern into something completely different and exciting with one of the boldest hues of the season. The simple geometric elements, like the playful zigzag interior, deliver a delightful punch with the bold green beside a more neutral gray.
And there you have it, Spring 2014 Vera Bradley Color Release.

On October 13, my mom, daughter, and I all participated in our first CHOC Walk in the Park. This is a greak 5K that raises money (and awareness) for the Children's Hospital Orange County! We got to walk through the Disneyland Resort before the parks opened early that Sunday morning and I made it my business to NOT leave until I had a new Disney Vera Bradley bag!
After the walk, we went back to the hotel and had a soak in the hot tub, had some breakfast and on the way home we stopped at the resort so that I could run in, make my purchase, and we could be on our way!
I chose the Backpack style in the "Midnight with Mickey" pattern. I love it (and thanks to my Visa points and annual passholder discount, I only paid $7 for it, MSRP is $99).
I highly suggest them to all Disney lovers OR Vera lovers, or those who are like ME and adore both brands!
Midnight with Mickey is a fun bright print on a black backgound with flowers and paisleys. Mickey is prominent in this pattern, but Minnie also makes an appearance.
Just Mousing Around features large fanciful flowers on a bright pink background, Minnie seems more prominent in thispattern.
Coming next in the line is called "Where's Mickey" a fun pattern to pair with jeans thanks to its colorful medley of blues, turquoise, and greens on a navy background. Here we find the iconic Mickey Head hiding in a pattern very similar to Lola from the 2013 VB collection.

Saw this on the Yahoo! news this morning and HAD to share!
Once upon a time there was a young man named Paul Phillips who fell in love with a young woman named Erika Ramos. Phillips, 23, loved Ramos, also 23, so much, that he decided to propose by creating an adorable children’s book detailing their love story. Phillips collaborated with Nashville artist, Yoni Limor, who illustrated the personalized pictures for the book. Then Phillips had it bound and stashed it in the shelves of the local library in Southern Pines, N.C.
“I had checked out a couple books a few days earlier to be returned Saturday,” Phillips told GoodMorningAmerica.com. “We took out a children’s book for her niece and nephew.”
While in the children’s book section, Phillips asked Ramos if she would read him the book he had specifically hidden just for her. “When she got to the page where the gorilla proposed, I got down on one knee and she was like, ‘No way.’” Ramos said, “Yes,” and photographer Laura Ingram was there to capture their special “happily ever after” moment. The newly-engaged couple is planning to wed next fall.
Colorful wishes to the happy couple!

Today, August 9, is the day Vera Bradley was born back in 1909 (yes, her birthday was 09/09/09!)
It was in 1982, while at a layover in the Atlanta airport after visiting Barbara's parents, Ed and Vera Bradley, that Barbara Bradley-Baekgaard and Patricia R. Miller revisited a conversation they once had around the serious shortage of feminine and stylish luggage.
Investing $250, they begin a company the very next day in Barbara's basement, Fort Wayne, Indiana. And they named the company after Barbara's mother, Vera.
Thank you ladies for your astute observation of the deplorable lack of feminine traveling cases and thus creating my favorite obsession, Vera Bradley!

July is already my favorite month (my birthday is on the 3rd) and now we have more to look forward to... In just a few short days (July 9) we will welcome Fall 2013 with Lola, Heather, and Cocoa Moss. I believe there are still three colors waiting to drop for this season, but I think VB might be planning another mid-season release, which would be awesome!
Here is your desktop calendar for the month of July.

Over the weekend, my boyfriend took me to see The Heat (an adorable movie with Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy)
Since it is a first run movie, I decided NOT to inform the entire theatre that I saw not one, not two, but THREE Vera sightings in the movie. And they even TALK about one of the bags.
I was caught off guard and will have to go see the movie again in order to try to snap a couple of pictures of the bags. Both uses are of Melissa McCarthy's brother's girlfriends.
First on Girlfriend #1 (because I don't remember the character's name) I caught a glimpse of a Va Va Bloom shoulder strap! I got so excited. You cannot see it very closely but in the next frame you can tell that it is in fact a Va Va Bloom tote of some kind.
Next Girlfriend #2 (I think her name is Gina) is leaving her apartment with a rolling luggage in Boysenberry, on top of that is a Paisley Meets Plaid duffle! I was almost screaming with delight. Then they even talked about the fact that she has a rolling piece of luggage and that it was a Christmas present from her boyfreind, Melissa McCarthy's brother.
I can't wait to see it again, 1) because it was hilarious, and 2) to see if I can't get a pic of these items to post here!
Here's to Colorful Summer Movies!
